About the role

We're looking for a versatile Software Engineer with strong frontend fundamentals and a healthy curiosity for everything around them.

You might work on frontend architecture one day, improve CI or local development the next, and then dive into performance, observability, deployment, or platform tooling. You enjoy understanding how things work beyond the browser, and you're comfortable reasoning across the edge, CDN, server, application, and data layers.

This is a build-it-and-run-it environment. We own what we build, operate it in production, and improve it when reality inevitably gives us feedback.

What you'll do

• Build and improve platform capabilities and Golden Paths for frontend engineers.

• Make frontend delivery more consistent, reliable, and self-service.

• Improve the developer experience across local development, testing, CI/CD, releases, and deployments.

• Work on complex frontend platform topics such as caching, performance, configuration, observability, and application architecture.

• Help define sensible standards without creating unnecessary ceremony.

• Collaborate with - Build and improve platform capabilities and Golden Paths for frontend engineers.

• Make frontend delivery more consistent, reliable, and self-service.

• Improve the developer experience across local development, testing, CI/CD, releases, and deployments.

• Work on complex frontend platform topics such as caching, performance, configuration, observability, and application architecture.

• Help define sensible standards without creating unnecessary ceremony.

• Collaborate with product engineers, platform teams, and technical leaders across Back Market.product engineers, platform teams, and technical leaders across Back Market.

• Write maintainable code with appropriate tests and documentation.

• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, incident response, and the occasional "how did this end up in production?" investigation.

• Share what you learn and help make the platform easier for everyone to use.

What we're looking for

• Strong professional experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Solid frontend fundamentals, including browser behaviour, HTTP, SSR, APIs, performance, and application architecture.

• Experience with Vue.js and Nuxt, or a comparable frontend ecosystem.

• A good understanding of caching and performance trade-offs. You can reason about cache keys, invalidation, freshness, consistency, and privacy.

• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and production software delivery.

• Interest in the broader stack, including backend services, infrastructure, observability, and developer tooling.

• Strong ownership and a pragmatic approach to solving problems.

• The ability to navigate ambiguity, explain complex topics clearly, and work well with others.

• Good written and spoken English.

You don't need to know every tool in our stack. We certainly don't expect you to. What matters is that you can learn quickly, ask good questions, and make complex things simpler for the engineers using your work.

• Frontend: Vue.js, TypeScript, Nuxt, Storybook, Tailwind

• Backend: Python, FastAPI, Go

• Data and messaging: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, BigQuery

• Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, CircleCI, GitHub, BackStage, Grafana, Open Telemetry

Recruitment process

• HR screening, 45 minutes

• Coding and testing module, 60 minutes

• System design discussion, 60 minutes

• Tech leadership and manager interview, 75 minutes

• Back Market values interview, 45 minutes

Hybrid work

We work in a hybrid setup, with three days per week in the office. Monday is mandatory. Additionally there is one remote week per quarter.
